Hi, my name is Kevin O’Neil, I am 50 years old and I live in a small town, Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland. This is home for me and my wife Kirsty and our 6 years old son Nathan.
I never thought that I would ever write a Blog, after all what would I write about? But as fate would have it, I’ve found something to finally write about; ‘cancer’. But this Blog is also about severe chronic pain and living with it for the last 12 years, plus…
I am 1 of only 15 people worldwide diagnosed with the rare form of cancer called malignant myopericytoma (#malignantmyopericytoma). I had life-threatening/saving surgery at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh on 7th October 2015. This was to remove a massive malignant tumour on the wall of the right side of my chest.
To successfully remove the tumour my right rib cage and a large part of my right shoulder blade had to be removed. Once the tumour was removed I then had my chest rebuilt. I then spent a few days in a medical induced coma when in the intensive care unit. After several days in there I was transferred to HDU for 5 days before spending a week in Ward 102.
I can never thank our NHS enough for saving my life.
I will be making regular updates so please keep checking in too see what I have to say. But I also want to hear what you have to say, wherever you are on our beautiful planet. Don’t be shy, I don’t bite. Lol
Finally, please ask your family, friends, workmates and anyone else you can think of to like and follow the page.
Hopefully this can help me track down the #14others that have/had this rare type form of #cancer #malignantmyopericytoma
